Psychology Matters in delivering effective government policy

People are at the heart of policymaking.

Understanding people, how they work, and what pressures they work under is of paramount importance if we want to make sure our political system is fit-for-purpose. Through psychology, we encourage policymakers to consider how government decisions affect the way people think and feel.

An understanding of policy that is underpinned by psychology opens up the possibility of powerful new, evidence-based tools and frameworks that can lead to more effective decision-making by policymakers.

In this workstream, we are highlighting the power of psychology in effective policymaking. From campaigns to consultation responses, and MP briefings to manifestos, we are shining a light on how we work with you to advocate for psychology across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
