Talking to people we don't yet know

Our editor, Dr Jon Sutton, introduces the June 2023 issue of The Psychologist

24 May 2023

By Jon Sutton

This July, the British Psychological Society hosts the European Congress of Psychology in Brighton and Hove. So this month our spotlight is on the city, the work coming out of its universities and into the local community, and the Congress theme of 'uniting communities for a sustainable world'.

The edition is also a great example of 'uniting communities for a sustainable magazine': I am very grateful to all the contributors for taking the time to share their stories, and to Shanu Sadhwani, Robin Banerjee and Tom Ormerod for ideas and contacts.

I like the idea of issues grounded in place as well as theme. If you think you could join together across institutions and local organisations to showcase your own home town/city, I'd love to discuss it on [email protected].

It's not too late to register for the Congress, and there are some excellent offers for BPS members. Find out more via the website now.

In the next issue, we'll meet and hear from many of the Congress keynotes.
