Home is where the heart is

The last few years have seen many of us develop a new understanding, and perhaps appreciation, of 'home'. Where we call home is so much more than bricks and mortar, and much of our psychology is built into it. So this month, we consider home and housing in articles by Ben Phillips-Farmer and Marie Houghton, as well as an interview with Dr Emily Turton, who says that often 'home is hospital'.
As for The Psychologist and Research Digest, where do we call 'home'? The Leicester office, and some of our small team dispersed across the country and working remotely. For print, in your homes each edition. But over the years we have also made a home for ourselves online. We're still rebuilding on our new website, but we're confident it is becoming a much bigger and more practical abode than ever before. With our app as a stylish outbuilding, if you'll allow my usual tortured metaphor.
However we arrive – in your home or on the move – I hope we're welcome. You can check and update your preferences via portal.bps.org.uk.
