Featured job: Clinical or Counselling Psychologists, Chelsea Psychology Clinic
Ian Florance hears about ‘…a rewarding experience’.
05 October 2020
We asked Zoe Knight, Clinical Lead at Chelsea Psychology Clinic, to answer a few questions about these vacancies.
What does the clinic do?
Our team includes experienced psychologists and psychiatrists with academic and NHS careers in addition to private work. We are experts in talking therapy and psychiatric medication. We offer a range of psychiatric services and talking therapies, proven to be effective, from CBT, through to Third Wave CBT, Specialist Schema, DBT, MBT, EMDR, Mindfulness Based, Narrative, Systemic and Couples therapies. We match clients to psychologists who work in ways that will most effectively help them. We also offer a specialist Child Psychology service.
The clinic seems to be growing…
It's exciting. We started four years ago with five psychologists and one psychiatrist. We now have various London offices, over 40 associates and a growing psychiatry team. We want to expand our service into educational psychology as well as growing our associate team to match the ever-growing demand.
How has Covid affected your work?
We rapidly responded to the Government guidelines, seeing existing and prospective clients on-line throughout the initial lock down We were also planning a return to our offices, making them Covid safe. We now offer a mix of online and face-to-face sessions. Different clients feel most comfortable in one or other of these environments.
Are you looking for experienced or newly qualified people?
We are able to support relatively newly qualified psychologists to join the team and grow their experience as well as looking for psychologists with more extensive experience. This will give us more choice to match to clients' needs. We are looking specifically for psychologists who have specialist knowledge of long-term work with more complex presentations, and training in DBT, Schema Therapy and EMDR. We also have plenty of need for psychologists who can work with couples.
What are the personal qualities necessary in a successful associate?
It is a rewarding experience. You will need to be a creative clinician, who can work independently, whilst also being team minded. As part of our service, we aim to see clients quickly. You will need to be flexible, meeting clients where they are and responsive and adaptable to the needs of the service
How do you communicate with associates?
We offer all associates monthly supervision with a more senior, experienced associate within the clinic. They know who they will be working with in supervision from induction. We also offer monthly online specialist supervision groups. Any associate can attend these, get to know other associates, and develop skills. Yearly clinic events help associates connect with the clinic's work and future direction. We are a pretty social bunch, so, usually, there are regular get togethers and celebrations.
