We collect her interviews for The Psychologist…

Since 2021, Fauzia Khan has been meeting psychologists and other allied mental health professionals to discuss their life and work. The interviews she has carried out cover a wide range of topics, including lived experience, co-production, trauma-informed practice, challenging systems and models, EDI, anti-racism, equity for older people, islamophobia, among many other important subjects. 

Before we get into that, here's Fauzia's own story:

Fauzia meets psychiatrist Dr Marius Romme, who co-pioneered the Hearing Voices Movement – also known as the Maastricht approach – along with Science Journalist and Researcher Sandra Escher in the 1980's.

'I was a rebel without a cause before my breakdown… I saw psychology as an avenue to change things'
Rufus May had a breakdown at 18 years of age. He was diagnosed with schizophrenia, which resulted in three hospital admissions. Dr May, now a Clinical Psychologist and Mental Health Trainer, tells Fauzia how his experiences in and out of the mental health system spurred him to train as a psychologist.
