Editorial, October 2024
Dr Jon Sutton introduces the issue.

In the 1920s, Alexander Paterson, the Prison Commissioner, declared that people 'come to prison as punishment, not for punishment'.
Yet prisoners' accounts can remind us that prison is often experienced as painful, humiliating, and not conducive to positive change and rehabilitation.
In this issue, I hear from psychologist and CEO of Prison Reform Trust, Pia Sinha; and we present our 'Guide to Prisons'.
Pia indulged my habit of starting interviews with the first line from the 1990's chillout classic 'Little Fluffy Clouds', and background/being young is another theme in this issue.
We hear about class from Helen Hart, Stuart Whomsley and Ken Greaves; plus there's inequality in Eamonn Ferguson's interview, and adolescence with Lucy Foulkes.
Explore the issue via our Archive. As ever, there's loads more via The Psychologist website. We're grateful to all those who contribute, and if you've been inspired to share your own story of Psychology then we would love to hear from you, on [email protected].
