A 'DeStress Fest' in Leicester
Head to the University of Leicester's Attenborough Arts Centre.
15 February 2018
The University of Leicester's Attenborough Arts Centre, just around the corner from the British Psychological Society, is home to a 'DeStress Fest' until the end of March. Exhibitions, performances and workshops will be held on the themes of mental health, neurodiversity, body image and stress alleviation.
As part of the 'All Brains Are the Same Colour' exhibition, which runs until 4 March, local Fine Arts PhD student Stefania Laccu showcases her 'Overlapping' technique, which she describes as 'symbolizing how the health status of the human body can be emotionally affected and this therefore becomes embodied as a psychosomatic disorder'. Above is her 'Sarah's blurred green'.
Other exhibitions in the series include Nottingham-based artist Denise Weston's large-scale portraits of women throughout history and fiction who were linked to the perception of 'madness'.
