A teacher, professor and psychologist has been given a lifetime achievement award celebrating her work in supporting children with high learning potential and those with special educational needs. Diane Montgomery, Professor Emerita at Middlesex University, was given the honour by Potential Plus UK as part of its Above and Beyond Awards.
Montgomery has written more than 30 books, 20 study guides and more than 100 articles and chapters. Her research at Middlesex explores underachievement, giftedness, dyslexia, learning and teaching, and dual or multiple exceptionality – or those who are gifted and also have a special educational need or disability. Potential Plus UK works with families, professionals and children who are exceptional, profoundly gifted, are underachieving despite their potential and those who are dual or multiply exceptional, the lifetime achievement award recognises individuals who continue to have a positive impact on the education and support of these children.
