The British Psychological Society Psychological Testing Centre independently reviews tests that have been submitted by publishers and distributors in the UK across the disciplines of educational, forensic and occupational testing and tests used in a health and social care related setting.

All our reviews are independently reviewed in accordance with the EFPA Review Model on test reviewing.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with a highly experienced team of Editors and to support professional standards in testing.  

If you are a BPS member, have significant knowledge and practice in the use and construction of psychometric tests, hold entry on the Register of Qualifications in Test Use (RQTU), and can work independently then please get in touch.

Overview of the role

The Test Reviewer will work alongside the Editorial team under the operational management of the Psychological Testing Centre (PTC) to provide a publication ready professional, independent and evaluative review of a psychological assessment.

Training will be provided which will include formative feedback on a practice review.

Job description

  • Deliver an independent and confidential evaluation of psychometric test materials in line with the EPFA review criteria. It is expected that the Test Reviewer will evaluate 1-2 tests per year, and will edit additional tests as required, e.g. in times when an increased number of tests are submitted
  • Deliver a publication ready test review to a specific deadline 
  • Work under the guidance of the assigned Consultant Editor to ensure that the evaluation of test materials appears in a professional publication ready test review format, this includes any amendments and editing that may be required after the initial draft
  • Attend any training that it required to fulfil the role
  • Liaise with the Consultant Editor, Senior Editor and the BPS office in carrying out test reviews

Person specification

  • BPS member
  • Significant knowledge and practice in the use and/or construction of psychometric tests
  • Be able to devote approximately 5-7 days per year to fulfil the duties of the role and the test registration and reviews service level agreement 

Desirable

  • Currently holding an entry on the Register of Qualifications in Test Use (RQTU) or similar level qualification

Remuneration

This is a paid role, and the appointment will be offered on a contract for services.
