Become a graduate member
As a graduate member, you gain free access to our archive of academic journals to boost your postgraduate studies and discounted CPD courses. Your achievement will also be more recognisable with a GMBPsS title after your name.
How do I upgrade my membership?
You can become a graduate member if you've achieved at least a 2:2 in an undergraduate degree that's accredited by the BPS or have completed an accredited conversion course.
Upgrade your membership using our online portal by completing an application form and uploading your degree certificate and transcript.
Our membership team will process your application as soon as we receive it. This will take around 10 working days and we'll request the appropriate membership subscription and any member network fees if your application is approved.
Graduate membership costs £81.72 per year for five years and you don't have to pay an application fee. If you're upgrading from a student membership, you don't have to pay the new fees until your current membership ends.
Become a chartered psychologist
As a chartered member of the BPS, you can demonstrate your expertise by using the title CPsychol and publicise your services to potential clients and patients on our publicly searchable registers.
How do I upgrade my membership?
To become a chartered psychologist, you must have:
- Achieved at least a 2:2 on an undergraduate honours degree (recognised as meeting the graduate basis for chartered membership), or
- Have completed a society-accredited conversion qualification
Along with one of the following:
- Have undertaken society-accredited postgraduate qualifications and training
- Have appropriate postgraduate training and experience in teaching psychology
- Have completed psychology research to the doctoral level
Upgrading to a chartered psychologist membership also shows that you've achieved the highest level of experience and expertise in psychology.
Membership subscription is £163.44 per year, plus a non-refundable application assessment fee of £50.
Because you're already a member, you'll only have to pay our application fee plus the difference between your current subscription and the chartered membership rate until your membership renews.

What is the difference between Graduate and Full member?
