"We must remember the workforce during NHS winter pressures," says BPS
The NHS continues to suffer from the worst Winter pressures seen in recent years.

The NHS continues to experience one of the toughest winters on record. Responding to the news, President of the British Psychological Society Dr Roman Raczka said:
"With the NHS facing one of the harshest winters in its history, it is vital we don't forget the potentially damaging effect this may have on the workforce.
"Over a quarter of all staff sicknesses are due to poor mental health and wellbeing with increasing numbers citing depression, anxiety, stress and burnout. The psychological toll caused by the incessant pressure of increased workloads should not be underestimated.
"You can only have an NHS that is "fit for the future" if you have a well workforce. Wider investment in the NHS and a focus on prevention must be forthcoming as a matter of urgency. Only then will we be able improve the health and wellbeing of those on the frontline. There is no NHS without its staff, and we must support them wherever possible."
For the past two years the British Psychological Society has been campaigning for government investment in psychologically-led mental health and wellbeing services for all healthcare professionals.
