Voting open for President-Elect and Elected Trustee

BPS members can now vote on their choice for two senior society roles, with five candidates for our next President-Elect and two candidates for the role of Elected Trustee.

23 April 2024

The successful candidate for the role of President-Elect will serve two years in the role from our Annual General Meeting in July, before a further two years in the role of President.

The five candidates for President-Elect are:

  • Dr Laura Dean
  • Jo Hemmings
  • Dr Natalie Lancer
  • Dr Peter McParlin
  • Jimmy Petruzzi

Our next Elected Trustee will sit alongside the President-Elect on our Board of Trustees, serving a three-year term. The two candidates for this role are:

  • David Blackmore Carew
  • Stephen Leadbeater

Encouraging members to use their vote, BPS President Nicky Hayes said:

"Our elected roles are vital for making sure that our members are able to have their say on the direction of the society, so I'd really encourage you to get to know the candidates and make sure you cast your vote."

Voting is open to student, graduate, associate, full, chartered, and honorary members and will remain open until noon on 28 May.

BPS elections are managed via an online system – members who are eligible to vote will have received an email from our elections partner Mi-Voice, outlining the process. If you don't have an email address registered with us, or if you have opted out of online voting, you will receive a postal ballot instead.

Members are also invited to notify trustees of their wish to join a proposed new Environmental Psychology Section. At least one per cent of the members recorded in the annual report presented at the 2023 Annual General Meeting must confirm their wish to become members of the Environmental Psychology Section, if the proposal is to proceed to the next stage.

If the one per cent threshold is met, the proposal to form the new Environmental Psychology Section will be put to a vote at the Annual General Meeting, under Rule 27(3).

Before casting your vote, you can find out more about the candidates, their backgrounds, and their motivations for putting themselves forward on the dedicated elections section of our website.
