Undergraduate Research Assistantship Scheme now open for applications
The scheme provides up to 20 researchers with the opportunity to offer an undergraduate a summer research apprenticeship.

We're delighted to announce that the BPS Undergraduate Research Assistantship Scheme 2025 is now open for applications. Every year, the BPS awards funding to researchers so they can provide a six or eight-weeklong research apprenticeship to a psychology undergraduate student.
Not only does completing an assistantship look great on a student's CV, successful applicants are awarded a weekly stipend of £270 for the undergraduate student who is completing the summer scheme.
Although anyone with a research supervisor role can apply for the funding, the prestigious grant is especially well placed to support:
- PhD students who are looking to expand their mentoring and teaching skills
- Post-doctorates who have identified an undergraduate who they would like to mentor
Feedback from previous participants
Last year, the scheme successfully helped fund a diverse range of research assistantships including those that covered parent-child interactions and their impact on child development, working with an expert in eyewitness memory and interviewing, and a project looking at how maternal grandparents' involvement shape infant feeding experiences.
We've had amazing feedback from undergraduates who have taken part in assistantships funded by the scheme. From getting the chance to work closely with passionate and experienced PhD students for the summer, to improving confidence in their research abilities, the scheme offers a unique opportunity to support talented psychology undergraduate students.
How to apply
You can visit the Undergraduate Research Assistantship Scheme webpage for more information about the scheme and how to apply.
The closing date to apply for funding is 9 March 2025, 11.59pm.
