Results of BPS election 2023 announced

Dr Roman Raczka has been elected as the society's next President-Elect.

04 April 2023

The BPS is delighted to confirm that, following a vote of the society's membership, Dr Roman Raczka has been elected as President-Elect for 2023-24.

We had four fantastic candidates running for this position, and want to thank them for putting themselves forward, as well as everyone who voted in the election.

Dr Raczka will officially take up his role at our AGM in July, serving as President-Elect for one year ahead of a two-year term as President under our updated charter and statutes.

He said:

"I would like to thank everyone for voting in this election, and for putting your trust in me as the society's next President-Elect.

"I am delighted to accept this important role in the BPS to serve the whole psychology community. To be President-Elect is both an honour and a responsibility which I will take very seriously.

"I hope to bring together different perspectives in our shared passion for psychology, and to work on behalf of all our members."

Katherine Carpenter, the society's chair of the Governance, Board Effectiveness and Nominations Subcommittee and current Vice-President, added:

"I've known and worked alongside Roman for some time now, and am delighted that he will be our next President-Elect.

"I am sure that he will join our entire Board of Trustees in pushing forward the society's work, and representing psychology and psychologists' interests effectively at every level.

"I want to thank all four excellent candidates for this position, and all of our members who cast their vote."
