Psychology Postgraduate Affairs Group (PsyPAG) to integrate into the BPS
The BPS is delighted that PsyPAG will integrate into the BPS to become an official BPS group, offering more support for postgraduates and a stronger voice for postgraduate psychologists within the society.
13 July 2021
PsyPAG provides support for all psychology postgraduates in the UK and the integration into the BPS comes after considerable consultation with the PsyPAG committee, and BPS Board of Trustees.
Becoming an official society group will enable PsyPAG to have more influence within the society and ensure the voice of postgraduates is represented.
The group will also be able to access more support from the BPS, including event management, finance, and communications, and will be able to build stronger links with all Member Networks to support members with networking, building contacts, research, and advice.
Members will also have members access to the BPS Welfare Fund, which offers case-by-case support in meeting membership fees if required at any point.
Madeleine Pownall, outgoing chair of PsyPAG, said:
"It is great news that PsyPAG has become fully 'part of' the BPS family.
After a lot of consideration from the PsyPAG committee, the Research Board, and other BPS groups, we believed that this was the best step forward for our community, in order to give ourselves a real voice within the BPS, to grow the representation of postgraduate psychologists in psychology policy through the BPS and to continue to support psychologists at the postgraduate stage of training.
By being more closely aligned it means we can really push forward new initiatives which work for all.
We already have a vibrant, supportive and engaged postgraduate community, and we are looking forward to growing that as we integrate into the BPS."
