New BPS Coaching Psychology Division launched
The British Psychological Society is proud to officially launch the new Division of Coaching Psychology (DoCP) today, Monday 1 November 2021.
01 November 2021
Following the BPS Annual General Meeting in July, where there was overwhelming support for the re-designation of the Special Group to the Division of Coaching Psychology, we are pleased to announce that from Monday 1 November the Division of Coaching Psychology will be formally established.
Current members of the Special Group in Coaching Psychology will automatically become members of the new division.
All SGCP members will initially become general members of the new division until the routes for becoming a full member are established and put in place.
We will be in touch with all current members to let them know what route is open to them for becoming a full member and how to apply.
BPS President Katherine Carpenter said:
"I'm pleased to welcome a new Division of Coaching Psychology and thank all those who have worked so hard for many years to make this transition.
This new status will empower the DoCP to establish more education and training as well as provide it with the professional recognition it deserves."
Professor Jonathan Passmore, chair of the new division added:
"I am delighted that after 20 years the Special Group of Coaching Psychology has gained divisional status.
The new division will provide opportunities for both individual coaching psychologists and university programmes to gain BPS recognition for their work".
