Members wanted to take part in historic London Pride
Expressions of interest for members to take part in London Pride are now open after the BPS secured a place in the event for the first time in the organisation’s history.

The society worked closely with the Psychology of Sexualities Section to get its place in this year's march on 2 July, alongside other organisations, charities and groups who believe that trans rights are human rights.
Rob Agnew, Sexualities Section member who worked on the society's bid, believes securing a Pride place is 'hugely significant' not just for LGBTQ+ people and psychologists, but also for the BPS. He said:
"Psychologists stand behind LGBTQ+ people and there is a place in society for psychologists to have a political voice and we should make that voice heard."
Neil Baker, BPS Diversity and Inclusion Manager, added:
"Our involvement in Pride is long overdue, and it's time the BPS proudly and openly supported our LGBTQ+ community, especially during a time of increased hate crimes, global persecution and troubling political decisions."
The society is forming a walking group of 50 members for the parade. To take part, you will need to apply for a wrist band by emailing [email protected] and answering the following questions by 7pm on 13 June:
- Please tell us in no more than 25 words why you would like to join the BPS delegation at this year's Pride in London?
- In one sentence, why do you think its important BPS is represented at Pride?
- Do you have any mobility restrictions we should be aware of?
- Do you have any medical conditions that could impact your involvement?
- If selected, what size of T-shirt would you require? Small, medium or large?
- How much time could you offer on the day?
Please supply your name / email address / contact number / home location / membership number
As Pride takes place throughout the UK, the BPS plans to alternate its attendance at the events each year.
Next year, it plans to march in Manchester Pride followed by Glasgow and Cardiff in the following years.
