Help us review our obesity recommendations

The BPS is looking to recruit new members for a task and finish group to review our recommendations on obesity in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.

16 July 2020

Early evidence suggests that obesity and related conditions exacerbate the effects of Covid-19, and lead to higher mortality rates.

In response, we're reviewing our 2019 report 'Psychological perspectives on obesity' and the recommendations within it to see whether they need to be adapted or updated to reflect Coronavirus.

The report contains recommendations in a number of areas, including:

  • Reducing weight-related stigma
  • Psychologically-informed policy
  • Standards and guidelines
  • Training and supervision
  • Weight management services

We're inviting BPS members from research and practice backgrounds to join a new task and finish group to review these.

To apply for a position on the group or for more information on what it involves, please see the full role description.
