Festival of Ideas networking event - a review
The British Psychology Society North West Branch had the second of our networking hubs with a joint event with the University of Chester on 05 July.

The aim of these events is to create opportunities for members and other stakeholders interested in the world of Chester to have a space to meet and chat, and hopefully create connections and collaborations.
The committee aims to run more of these events in different parts of the North West over the next couple of years so please do contact the committee if you are interested in being involved in running networks in your area.
This event was run in conjunction with the Chester Festival of ideas and created a space for networking with other BPS members in Chester and surrounding area.
The committee are so grateful to the University of Chester for hosting this event.
BPS North West Committee Co-chair Dr Clare Mulligan-Foster worked in collaboration with Dr Kevin Rodgers, Dr Janine Carroll and Dr Liz Whelen in organising this event.
Clare would like to give her thanks to Kevin, Janine and Liz for their support and enthusiasm for the networking events. Also thanks to the BPS north west committee for their support in organising and sharing the event.
Dr Kevin Rodgers led a very engaging presentation on 'Purposeful Networks'. Attendees engaged in an interactive session on learning about purposeful networks and engaged chatting with others at the event as they discussed their own networks.
Participants completed a practical review of their own network and there was a lot of discussion as we all reflected on the reciprocity within our network by considering what was the last thing we have given to key people in our network and also what we had received.
It was a fun evening and lovely to see people from Chester joining us alongside BPS North West members and University faculty and students. And again, we had a lovely sunny evening.
Our next event with University of Chester will be on 27 September 2024 and the theme for this event will be positive psychology and thriving. Further details will be shared in next few weeks.
