The British Psychological Society and Routledge have announced the launch of a unique book series in which expert psychologists provide clear advice on the topics that matter to our everyday lives.

Each book in the Ask the Experts series provides evidence-based guidance in an accessible way. The unique question-and-answer format of the books makes them easier for readers to dip into and to get the answers they need more quickly. Further reading guides and a glossary of scientific terms are also included for anyone wanting to dig deeper.

Questions answered in the first three books include: 'what can I do about exam anxiety?'; 'how can I gain mastery of my technology use?'; and 'how can we support our loved ones living with dementia?'.

Future titles in the series will help readers to overcome common problems, such as anxiety, sleep deprivation, and burnout, as well as providing support for personal growth in areas like parenting and leadership.

"Ask the Experts is an awesome idea for a book series", said Megan O'Connell, Professor of Psychology at the University of Saskatchewan and co-author of How to Live Well with Dementia. "It offers experts, including in our case colleagues with lived experience, the opportunity to produce an accessible book that distils all the important information, while also being enjoyable to read."

The British Psychological Society's Academic Publications Manager, Rachel Sangster, said:

"This exciting popular science book series will be a powerful resource for anyone seeking practical, evidence-based guidance on the challenges we face every single day. By answering some of the most pressing questions of our time in a clear and accessible way, we hope these books will help people understand and improve their mental health and well-being. Whether it's managing exam anxiety or supporting a loved one with dementia, they offer expert advice that is both grounded in science and easy to apply. We're proud to partner with Routledge to bring these books to life."

Lucy Kennedy, Senior Publisher for Psychology at Routledge, added,

"We've enjoyed working with the BPS to develop this new series, which will make practical psychological insights available to many more people. Ask the Experts will help to answer the tough questions we often have but don't know who to ask, whether about everyday issues or challenges we encounter at key periods in our lives. Each book draws on the most up-to-date research, so readers can be confident that they are getting the latest expert advice."

The publishing partnership between BPS, the representative body for psychology and psychologists in the UK, and Routledge, part of Taylor & Francis, was formed in 2022. It now includes six book series, including Core Textbooks in Psychology and Professional Practice and Development.

The first books in the Ask the Experts series are: How to Live Well with DementiaManaging Your Gaming and Social Media Habits; and Understanding and Helping to Overcome Exam Anxiety.
