Consultation on the future of society qualifications
In April, the Board of Trustees discussed their previous decision to phase out three society qualifications. They decided to pause this work to consult more widely with members on the future of the BPS qualifications route.
01 July 2024
The consultation will give members, trainees, and wider stakeholders the opportunity to provide evidence and share their experience of our qualifications and whether the BPS is best placed to provide qualifications into the future.
At their meeting on 7 June, the Board of Trustees agreed the principles, approach, and timeline for the consultation. The consultation will consist of 3 phases:
- pre-consultation: Recruitment of Steering Group and Expert Reference Group to finalise scope of the consultation
- consultation: Data and Evidence gathering with members, employers and other key stakeholders
- evaluation: Analysis and report writing with recommendations for next steps.
The pre-consultation phase will involve establishing a steering group and a wider expert reference group to define the scope of the consultation.
The process of recruiting for both the steering group and wider expert reference group is beginning imminently.
- Qualifications Consultation Terms of Reference - Steering Group
- Qualifications Consultation Terms of Reference - Expert Reference Group
Once the scope of the consultation has been co-created with these two groups, it will be presented for approval at the next Board of Trustees meeting in early October.
The aim it is to bring back the feedback from the completed consultation to the Board in early 2025.
