BPS supports Your Covid Recovery
We’ve supported NHS England and NHS Improvement and University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust to deliver Your Covid Recovery, a new NHS website designed to help people recover from Covid-19 at home.
29 July 2020
Early evidence shows that a significant proportion of post Covid-19 patients have significant ongoing health problems, notably breathing difficulties, tiredness and cough, reduced muscle function, the reduced ability to undertake physical activity and psychological symptoms such as anxiety, mood disturbance and concentration and memory problems.
Your Covid Recovery is a new NHS website designed to help people recover from the long-term effects of Covid-19 and support them to manage their recovery.
It includes information from rehabilitation experts, including psychologists, about how to manage ongoing symptoms and health needs at home, and signposts to sources of support.
It also includes information on returning to work, and a helpful section for family, friends and carers of people who are recovering.
David Murphy, vice-president of the BPS, and representative of the BPS Expert Group in the Your Covid Recovery development team, said:
"The launch of the My Covid Recovery website is an important step in supporting the recovery of the many thousands of people who are continuing to experience the debilitating physical and psychological effects of severe Covid-19. Some will have been in hospital but many were not, and have struggled to receive any support.
The website provides an integrated set of information and self-management resources developed collaboratively by a team from a wide range of health professional backgrounds.
I am really proud to have been a part of this and to continue to work on the next phase of the programme."
