BPS Senate Policy Campaign shortlist announced

After weeks of voting among members, the three proposals receiving the highest number of votes have been finalised, and will be presented and debated at the November Senate meeting. 

The three shortlisted proposals are:

• Proposal 10: Tackling social class and class-based inequalities

  Psychology of Women and Inequalities Section; Community Psychology Section; Social Psychology Section.

• Proposal 11: Emerging Stronger: Living Well, Protecting our Planet

  DCP, DOP & DHP with support from DECP and DFP and is supported by DCoP. 

• Proposal 1: Climate change is the most pressing issue of our era and impacts on all other issues

  Psychotherapy Section (Chair) Division of Counselling Psychology, Special Group of Independent Practitioners.

All members will then have the chance to vote on their preferred proposal on Thursday 4 November, with the winner announced via the BPS website and social media channels on Friday 5 November.

Society staff will then work closely with members to deliver the policy campaign for 2022.

Genevieve Ileris, BPS interim head of policy who has led on the organisation of the Senate campaign process, said:

"We had 10 fantastic eligible submissions and I'd like to thank all members for their input and enthusiasm for the Senate policy campaign so far.

We have really enjoyed working with members to support the development of their proposals and videos for social media, and thank you to all members who took the time to vote.

We look forward to the November Senate meeting and finding out the successful campaign we'll be taking forward."
