BPS responds to the issue of capacity assessment and the Assisted Dying Bill

The BPS has previously published guidance which explores what makes a good assessment of capacity

Responding to the issue of capacity assessment and the Assisted Dying Bill, President of the British Psychological Society Dr Roman Raczka said:  

"Psychologists work closely alongside other professionals in assessing mental capacity. It is encouraging therefore to see considerations around capacity being raised in relation to the Assisted Dying Bill. 

"The British Psychological Society has published guidance which explores what makes a good assessment of capacity, and we will continue to highlight the vital work psychologists carry out in this area."
