BPS mentoring service to launch in January
Following a period of co-production with members, the new BPS mentoring service is set to launch with its first pilot scheme in January.
20 December 2022
This will see the South West Branch come on board with its mentoring scheme to support colleagues in the region with their career development.
The new platform will allow prospective participants to find out about each other's areas of expertise and aims for mentoring ahead of embarking on any supportive relationship.
It will also allow those taking part to arrange meetings, keep notes, and contact the scheme leader or the BPS at any time for further support with mentoring.
Mentoring is extremely valuable for those making their first steps in psychology, or a certain area within it, and we hope that the new service will provide easy-to-access support for those looking to get involved.
One recent mentee on the South West Branch scheme said:
"As with most learning and personal development, you get out what you put in, and with my mentor's guidance, I put a lot in to ensure that I received real value from the mentoring programme. It has changed my mindset and given me the drive to seek new opportunities and push myself."
Following the mentoring service's first pilot scheme launching in January, we will be looking to enable more of the existing mentoring schemes from around the society to make use of the new infrastructure.
If you have any questions about our support for mentoring or want to express an interest in running a scheme on the platform, we'd love to hear from you.
