BPS members urged to beware of scam renewal emails
Small number of members report receiving scam emails purporting to be from the BPS.
25 June 2024
We have been alerted that a small number of British Psychological Society members have today received scam emails claiming that their membership renewal is due.
The emails may appear to be legitimate and feature the BPS logo. However, they are sent from an external domain - [email protected] – rather than an our actual BPS renewals domain - [email protected].
For reference, legitimate emails from the BPS will always be sent from a domain ending with bps.org.uk.
The scam emails encourage the recipient to reply to the email and await further instructions.
If you receive suspicious email communications claiming to come from the BPS, please be vigilant and follow these steps:
- Check the sender address to ensure it ends with bps.org.uk.
- Do not click on any links or attachments.
- Verify the content - legitimate renewals communications from us will always address you by name and include your membership number.
- If you receive an email about your renewal and are unsure whether it is genuine, contact us immediately by emailing [email protected]. Do not use any contact information provided in the suspicious email.
