Responding to the violent racist attacks seen in recent days Dr Roman Raczka, President of the British Psychological Society, said:
"We condemn the violent racist attacks which have taken place in recent days in communities across the country. Many of us, and particularly those from minoritised backgrounds, are feeling unsafe and fearful for ourselves, our families and communities and the future in our personal lives and professional roles.
"The BPS stands against all forms of racism, xenophobia and extremism and we would encourage members to seek support for themselves and each other during these challenging times. We are mindful of the diversity of service users and carers who access psychological services including children and young people, individuals with intellectual disabilities and those belonging to different faiths and no faith. The BPS is committed to inclusivity for all and encourages its members to support one another personally and professionally during these times of unrest."
