We're delighted to announce that the next round of the Practice Board's Black and Asian Applied Psychologists Fund is now open.

BPS members from Black and Asian backgrounds can apply for up to £2,000 to fund an activity that will further their psychological career and enhance the UK psychological workforce. The funding could be used for (but isn't limited to)

  • Conference attendance
  • The organisation of inclusive and accessible conferences/events for other trainees/professionals
  • The development of research opportunities
  • Attendance at learning and training events
  • Innovation and development in the field
  • Personal therapy for counselling psychologists
  • Clinical/professional supervision

In 2023, Krishna Talsania applied for and received funding during her training at the University of West of England Bristol, while working at Central and North West London NHS Trust. On receiving the funding she said:

"I applied for and received funding to attend my first conference as a trainee health psychologist. The conference was in Paris and involved an overnight stay, so the grant was extremely helpful in contributing towards the costs.

"The conference was directly relevant to my thesis, which is exploring the lived experiences of adults with CMT, a genetic musculo-neural disorder. The conference was multidisciplinary and a fantastic opportunity for me to meet other professionals from Europe and around the world who are carrying out research on any and all aspects of CMT.

Visit Black and Asian Applied Psychologists Fund | BPS for more information about the scheme and how to apply.

The closing date for applications is Sunday 25 May 2025
