Applications open for the Early Career Study Visit scheme
We’re pleased to announce that our scheme to support early career researchers and lecturers has opened for 2025.
17 April 2025
The scheme provides funding for any UK-based lecturers and researchers, who've completed a Doctoral research degree in the last eight years, to visit an academic institution of their choice.
You can apply for the scheme if you are a member of the British Psychological Society and are employed at a UK institution as a researcher or lecturer. You can apply for funding to cover a visit of up to six weeks and the maximum you can apply for is:
- Up to £500 to visit an institution in the UK
- Up to £800 to visit an institution in Europe
- Up to £1,200 to visit an institution elsewhere in the world
The scheme is a fantastic opportunity to further a piece of research, while visiting a prestigious institution. Previously, a BPS member has used the grant to visit Aoyama Gakuin University in Japan and further their research in concealed information test (CIT); a tool used in criminal investigations.
"This opportunity enabled me to exchange knowledge, and provided collaborative opportunities with Japanese CIT experts and practitioners. The research visit was a great success. I would like to thank the BPS Study Visit Scheme for making this experience possible."
You can visit the scheme's website to view the full criteria for applying and the application form.
The closing date for applications is Sunday 8 June 2025.
