Network Chair or Co-Chair - Role description

The role of Network Chair or Co-Chair is responsible for leading and guiding the network committee in order to roll out and deliver a plan of activity throughout the year, encouraging networking and knowledge sharing between network members and the wider general public.
What the role of Network Chair or Co-Chair involves
A network Chair or Co-Chair is a key role of any network committee.
As a network Chair or Co-Chair you will be responsible for:
- Taking responsibility for preparing for meetings, ensuring items have sufficient time to be considered and that actions and decisions are recorded.
- Chairing and leading regular meetings, to discuss the running of the network and making sure decisions are made collectively.
- Be a key contact person with our staff and working in partnership with us.
- Working in partnership with the member network services team to recruit, induct and support volunteers.
- Providing support to other members of the committee and ensuring they are able to contribute to the committee.
- Take a leading role in coordinating activities for the network such as developing the annual activity plan, inviting speakers, planning committee meetings and engaging with stakeholders.
- Making sure the committee reflects our values and is open to anyone in the network.
The role of Chair or Co-Chair is an elected role which will allow the network membership to vote on who will take up the role. If however, there is only one applicant after the final call for applications, then the single applicant will be elected into the role without a membership vote.

- If you're a person who enjoys managing small groups of people in order to develop supportive community activities, then this might be a good role for you.
- You need to be a great communicator and have good organisational and IT skills.
- You should be good at motivating people and allowing them to have a say.
What other responsibilities come with the role
- As a network Chair or Co-Chair, you will need to represent your network in other society groups, which may include Senate, Society Boards, working groups and events.
- Supporting other network chairs, sharing ideas and identifying ways to work more closely together.
