Disseminating research through creativity
The aim of this programme is to encourage Counselling Psychologists to pursue and share their research through different creative languages, with a focus on diversity, adaptability and accessibility.
Disseminating research through Creativity is an initiative from the DCoP executive committee in response to the growing need to understand and communicate the identity of Counselling Psychology to the public.
Whilst valuing the need for objective data to help measure and provide evidence-based approaches we also recognise the effectiveness of therapy can come from the 'space between': the relational space, the clients dream space, their connection with nature, their creative space.
This is a space in which they can see beyond colonised constructs and access their true sense of being, a space where they find their own true language to express themselves.
To provide this space we need to be seen to facilitating and mirroring this language in our practice and how we represent ourselves to the public.
- LanguageInspire members to soften their language when communicating their research ideas and concepts
- ReflectionTo encourage practitioners to reflect on their own experiences within the therapy room as a source of research
- CreativityTo encourage the use of creativity as a way to enhance and aid our therapeutic work and research
Get involved
So many creative ideas and projects already exist and so this website is a platform in which we want to pool together these resources and build a community for Counselling Psychologists to relate to each other and to the public through the richness of the arts.
If you have any ideas or content that you think may relevant, or are already involved in relevant projects, we would love to hear from you.
For now we ask that you can send an initial email to the chair [email protected] and we will be in contact to discuss it further.
