These registers provide detailed information about each person listed, as well as ways in which people can get in contact for support or advice.

 The Wider Psychological Workforce Register promotes the services of individuals whose positions are not regulated by law - recognising knowledge, skills and competence.

Directory of Chartered Psychologists

The Directory of Chartered Psychologists is the perfect place for Chartered BPS Members to advertise their services to the public.

After joining the Directory of Chartered Psychologists, members also have the option to join the Directory of Expert Witnesses in order to advertise their services for legal work and proceedings.

Directory of Aviation and Aerospace Psychologists

This specialist directory provides a place for the aviation industry to source consultants to assist with aviation or aerospace psychology needs. The directory also includes Chartered Psychologists who are HCPC-registered - as required by UK CAA - to assist with providing psychological assessment services. Members may also have expertise in other areas of practice - for example peer support or clinical remediation.

The BPS cannot check individuals' claims regarding their aviation industry experience and does not endorse competence or accept liability for these claims.

For more information about industry requirements, psychologists and AOC holders should refer to the UK Civil Aviation Authority.

Directory of Expert Witnesses

The Directory of Expert Witnesses is a place for Chartered Members to advertise their services for legal work and proceedings. To join the Directory of Expert Witnesses you must first be listed on the Directory of Chartered Psychologists.

Directory of Media Production Psychologists

The Directory is open to Chartered members of the society and will enable members to provide a description of their expertise and experience of working in the media industry.

To ensure that media production companies can find the most suitably qualified and, where appropriate, regulated psychologists for their needs.

Applicants will be asked to indicate whether they are registered with the HCPC or a PSA-accredited register if they wish to offer psychological services to individuals, and whether they hold RQTU registration if they wish to offer psychometric testing as a service.

All directory members will be able to offer psychological knowledge and advice in line with their scope of competence. 

The society will be promoting the directory to media companies as a source of relevant expertise to meet their needs.

You will be required to pay an initial application fee of £84 when you first apply - once your application has been confirmed you will then need to pay the annual subscription of £180 to confirm your entry onto the directory.

Directory of Voluntary Careers Speakers

The Directory of Voluntary Careers Speakers is home to members who wish to provide engaging careers talks to schools and other institutions.

Joining this directory is a great way to share your knowledge and personal experience and to help inspire the next generation. It is also a great addition to your CV.

Applications are welcome from both chartered members and graduate members and if you choose to attend an event, then we are happy to provide you with a selection of careers materials and promotional leaflets.

Gender Diversity Specialist Register

The Gender Diversity Specialist Register (GDSR) is part of our promise to maintain the highest standards - ensuring experts in this field possess the knowledge and understanding to practice competently and ethically for public peace of mind.

Be sure to read the criteria for joining this register and check that you meet the following  points:

  • A Chartered Member with a minimum 2 years' experience post-Charter
  • HCPC Registered as a Counselling/Clinical Psychologist

The GDSR is aimed at Level 3 practitioners, the majority of which will be working within NHS Gender Identity Clinics.

List of External/VNC Examiners

BPS members who have expressed an interest in providing services as an external and/or viva academic examiner can apply to join this list. It sits in the public domain as a useful source of contact information and is administered by the BPS - although inclusion on the list does not represent a recommendation by the BPS.

Note that any agreements made are between the individual member and the person or institution making the request.

Applications to join the list are welcomed by any BPS member within relevant roles.

Inclusion on this list is free of charge.

Every 5 years, there will be a random audit of registrants' CPD. All registrants will be contacted in advance of this with details about the specific requirements, and those selected for audit will have their CPD records assessed by the society's Membership Advisory Group (MAG). 

Register of Coaching Psychologists

The Register of Coaching Psychologists has been developed to provide recognition for coaching psychologists and the profession of coaching psychology, allowing registrants to differentiate their services as a coaching psychologist and gain acknowledgement of their coaching psychology expertise.

To apply to join the Register of Coaching Psychologists you must:
  • be a Chartered member
  • be a Full Member of the Division of Coaching Psychology
  • have demonstrated alignment with the Level 8 Standards in Coaching Psychology

You must also be able to demonstrate commitment to ongoing CPD in coaching psychology.

Division of Coaching Psychology

The Division of Coaching Psychology supports psychologists, coaches, individuals and organisations who are interested in coaching psychology and coaching services. We share research and evidence-based insights that relate to the psychology of coaching.

Register of Psychologists Specialising in Psychotherapy

Register of Psychologists Specialising in Psychotherapy (ROPSIP) is the perfect place for psychologists working within the field of psychotherapy to showcase their experience and services to clients.

Those who have worked within the field of psychotherapy since becoming eligible for Chartered Membership, can join ROPSIP.

There are 2 levels of registration:

  • Practitioner – requiring a minimum 2 years psychotherapy experience post-Charter
  • Senior Practitioner - requiring a minimum 8 years psychotherapy experience post-Charter

To apply to be on the Register of Psychologists Specialising in Psychotherapy applicants must:

  • Be a Chartered Member
  • Be suitably experienced in the field of psychotherapy
  • Be supported by a senior work colleague who can evidence your experience
  • Sign a declaration confirming that you integrate the 6 principles of the register into your work

Register of Qualifications in Test Use

The Register of Qualifications in Test Use (RQTU) is the official record of all test users who have been awarded qualifications in educational, forensic or occupational test use by the British Psychological Society. Register members agree to abide by the Code of Good Practice in Psychological Testing and to maintain their competence in testing.

The RQTU is a searchable listing that appears in the public domain and can be used for checking the credentials of an individual.
