Looked After Children: Improving the psychological well-being of children in the care of the local authority
A guide for clinical psychologists working with or considering the development of psychological services for looked after children and their carers.
01 January 2009
Children living in foster and residential care together with children living at home with the protection of a care order pose a particular challenge to services. This briefing paper has been written to draw together the current state of understanding about the psychological and emotional needs of looked after children and to discuss how clinical psychologists might be involved in the development of services to meet these needs. It has been written to provide advice for clinical psychologists working within this area or involved in planning and developing such services.
