Guidance for psychologists on working with community organisations
There is widespread agreement on the need for community engagement to improve health outcomes.

BPS GuidanceDespite this, it can be difficult for psychologists working in the diverse settings in which they are employed to bring a more community-based or community-driven stance to their work.
In addition, recent national health policy emphasises the importance of co-production and prevention in healthcare, as well as the importance of reducing stigma and discrimination and equitable access to services.
To achieve these aims and develop solutions, proactive engagement with communities and community groups is essential.
This guidance for practitioner psychologists aims to provide some ideas about how to work well with community organisations, community representatives and diverse partners but in a non-prescriptive way.
