CPD FAQs
Frequently asked questions about CPD
How much CPD does the BPS recommend psychologists undertake?
As the BPS is not the regulator for psychologists, we do not specify how much CPD psychologists should undertake.
Rather, please refer to the Health and Care Professions Council's (HCPC, the Psychology regulator) Standards of continuing professional development.
You could also refer to the society's practice guidelines, particularly the section on CPD.
Do your CPD courses provide eligibility to join any BPS registers or directories?
Yes, some of our courses will support you in your application to join our BPS registers and/or directories.
These include:
- Supervision skills, for the Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors
- Essential knowledge for the Expert witness, for the Register of Expert Witnesses
- Media Production Psychology, for the Directory of Media Production Psychologists
Find out more about BPS registers and directories, and check your eligibility.
How many CPD points are your courses worth?
The BPS’ approach to CPD is not based on points.
Instead, we promote a reflective, outcomes-based approach to CPD in line with the Health and Care Professions Council's (HCPC) Standards of continuing professional development.
Can my organisation purchase CPD on my behalf?
Yes, you can request a quote for five or more learners.
Please complete the BPS CPD quotation request.
If you are looking to book for fewer than 5 learners, please proceed directly to request an invoice by completing the invoice request form.
Who develops BPS CPD courses?
