Graham Towl is Professor of Forensic Psychology at Durham University - one year ago he was appointed as the Chair of SAPOR.

Previously he was the Chief Psychologist at the Ministry of Justice and prior to that head of psychological services for prisons and probation in England and Wales - in that role, he expanded the psychology staffing from 400 to 1000 over a 5-year period.

He was peer-nominated as the most influential forensic psychologist in the UK and is the recipient of BPS awards for Distinguished contributions to practice and forensic academic knowledge.

He was the first Chair of the Division of Forensic Psychology and the last Chair of the Division of Criminological and Legal Psychology.

Recent publications include research with SUMS consulting on addressing sexual violence at universities which has influenced policy changes with improved regulation.

His recent books include; Stopping Gender-based Violence in Higher Education, Sexual Harassment and the Law in Africa and a 2nd edition of the groundbreaking Addressing Student Sexual Violence; A good Practice Guide, which has just gone to press and hopefully will be out in early 2025.

Professor Towl is also the Chair of PORSCH - a multiagency and multidisciplinary research network based in Northern England.
