Speaker

Dr Angie Smith

Angie is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist who moved in April 2024 to Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust as the Community Psychology lead for Older People. She has been on the national FPOP committee since 2021  (and sporadically previously) and is currently the Geographical Group convenor. Angie has moved around Trusts during the progress of her career and experienced many different service models of working. Her clinical specialism mainly focusses on dementia but in her current role will be more focussed on Mental Health.

She was previously carer for her grandfather who lived with her for 10 years prior to his passing at 91 years of age resulting in a passion for supporting carers. She also lost both her father and brother to suicide thus has strong feelings on the language used about suicidality and bereavements of this kind. Her interest in Planetary Health, and particularly it's impact on older people, was peaked having attended an in-house presentation at a previous Trust and subsequently volunteering to respond, on behalf of the national FPOP committee, to a wider call for a written synopsis of implications for older people from the BPS Planetary health group which led to a lot of reading and increased awareness which others may also be interested in knowing about.
