Description
The Neurodiversity Movement has transformed public awareness of ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and other neurodevelopmental differences in recent years. As a result, many employers are reviewing their Disability and EDI (Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) protocols to include neurodivergence.
As psychologists consulting on selection and assessment, cultural change, performance appraisal, training and development or talent management, we are frequently asked for advice on neurodiversity. The narrative that neurodivergence can provide a talent opportunity is juxtaposed against the Equality Act, which is increasingly used to bring neurodivergence based disability discrimination claims. This is a complex picture, with contradictions and exceptions to the norm; it is very difficult to give blanket advice. This CPD is aimed at equipping Occupational Psychologists with the basic information needed to guide employers, as well as knowledge of what should constitute a specialist referral to expert practitioners or occupational health.
