This event aims to engage young people with the main psychological professions and will give them the opportunity to understand what psychology is and the career pathways offered across the discipline; it seeks to dispel some of the common myths that careers options in psychology are limited and only open to certain types of people. Throughout the event our engaging and insightful speakers will share their inspirational journeys into the psychological professions.
The BPS North West of England Branch have worked to secure speakers who represent the inclusivity and diversity of the discipline and this event seeks to engage young people in the message that psychology is open to all. We would like this event to reach as many young people as possible - offering it as an opportunity for teachers of psychology and those who support career decision making the option to sign up and stream this event live to their classes or interested pupils. Sakid Rafique is a game-changer in the world of mental fitness coaching. Anne-Marie Rowson
Anne-Marie began her career as an officer in the British Army, and later trained as a business psychologist, working with a number of consulting firms before moving into a series of senior HR roles. These included APAC Regional HR Dir, Global Leadership Development Director and Divisional Head of Talent and Capability amongst other posts across the investment banking, logistics and service provision sectors. As a consultant, she has worked in the private and public sector and with organisations of all sizes. She has first-hand experience of what happens in organisations during market downturns, mergers, acquisitions, transformational change and corporate renewal. She is also an experienced leadership assessor at the executive level and an accredited professional executive coach. She has coached executives in various aspects of their personal and business leadership. In the past she has chaired a Board of Trustees, steering them to stability through financially turbulent times. She has also worked as part time faculty for the Academy of Executive Coaching.
Anne-Marie works with senior executives and teams who are looking to maximise their potential and make a real difference. She combines her experience and insight, gained through working in a wide range of organisations, with her robust curiosity and uses both to support and challenge individuals to make the changes required in order for them to perform at their best. Having worked alongside senior executives in large global organisations for the last 20 years and having been a senior global leader herself, she empathizes with the challenges leaders face in order to be successful in difficult and often lonely circumstances. As a result, she can build relationships with ease and quickly gets to the heart of the challenges individuals are facing. Her honest and straightforward style, combined with a great sense of humour, has won over many resistant or sceptical senior managers. She is also a trauma aware and climate conscious coach.
Anne-Marie is a PCC International Coaching Federation (ICF) accredited coach and has obtained a Diploma in Advanced Executive Coaching with the highly acclaimed Academy of Executive Coaching. She also has a masters degree in Organizational Psychology from Birkbeck College, University of London. She is a member of the British Psychological Society, a Certified Principal Business Psychologist and is certified to use a wide range of psychological assessments and multi-rater instruments.
