- Coaching
This is the first of our bimonthly Journal Clubs where you will gain increased competence and confidence relating to Coaching Psychology Chartership Standards.
We plan to hold the Journal Club on the fourth Wednesday of alternate months starting in January. They are exclusively for DOCP Members and will not be recorded.
The Journal Club is an ideal way to sharpen your skills in research methods whether you are working towards Chartered Membership or are seeking to maintain your Chartered Status.
About this session
In this session, led by Andrea Giraldez Hayes, we will explore the themes of autonomy, accountability, and ethical maturity outlined in BPS Standard One for Coaching Psychology through the lens of the paper "Who is a coach and who is a coaching psychologist? Professionalising coaching psychology in the United Kingdom".
The session will delve into how coaching psychologists cultivate a clear distinction between their professional identity and that of non-psychologist coaches, ensuring autonomy in practice while aligning with evidence-based methodologies.
Participants will reflect on how the paper highlights the need for practitioners to maintain professional accountability by adhering to ethical guidelines and boundaries, particularly in safeguarding client welfare and managing dual relationships.
How to take part
This event will be held online and is open to DoCP members only.
Please read the paper ahead of the session and be prepared to have your camera on in order to fully participate.
