- Older people

About
This event will focus on the application of DBT and Radically Open-DBT (RO-DBT) in older adults. The following points will be discussed in the event
- The evidence for using DBT and RO-DBT with older adults
- The rationale for DBT and RO-DBT in older adults with CEN
- The challenges DBT and RO-DBT practitioners may face when treating older adults with CEN
- The benefits that DBT and RO-DBT has for older adults
- The potential differences in working age and older age DBT clients.
- Learning from delivering DBT and RO-DBT skills to older adults with CEN in Manchester
The speakers have experience of delivering all modes and functions of DBT in working age services, and behavioural interventions for older people. They have started to deliver small elements of DBT and RO-DBT with older adults over the past 6 months. Our hope is that this event will generate enthusiasm and positive discussion around the use of DBT and RO-DBT for older adults with CEN.
Learning outcomes:
- Understanding Data/evidence (if any): We will discuss the existing evidence base briefly, before outlining our (unpublished) work delivering DBT and RO-DBT skills to older adults in Manchester.
Target audience: Older Adult Clinicians, Older Adult Managers and Service Leads, Psychological Professions Leads, public interested in services for older people
