About
An afternoon webinar event designed both as CPD for clinicians working within eating disorder services and a resource for families and carers for those with eating disorders.
The event is being led by Dr Stephen Linacre who is a Clinical Psychologist working within a CAMHS Eating Disorders Community Service.
He has significant expertise in the field and has collated a package of skills learning for parents and carers who are supporting a loved one in recovery.
He will also be sharing insights from his own recovery journey from having had an eating disorder in his own childhood to now being fully recovered and working as a clinician in the field.
The training will also include input from Jenny Langley who will be sharing her insights from supporting her child's recovery from an eating disorder.

Speakers
Dr Stephen Linacre
Dr Stephen Linacre (Steve) is a clinical psychologist who is 12 years post qualifying and has had a passion for supporting people with eating disorders for many years. He has had his own personal experience of an eating disorder when he was a teenager and he uses this experience in his therapeutic work, when clinically indicated. He has worked in a range of services within the NHS providing assessment, formulation and interventions for those with intellectual disabilities, eating disorders and other mental health problems. He has previously done freelance work for Beat (the National Eating Disorders Charity), is the chair of a trustee's board for a local eating disorder charity and also has developed parent/carer skills workshops to enable parents/carers to navigate the challenging times of supporting someone with an eating disorder to move towards recovery. Steve is trained in CBT-E, Cognitive Remediation Therapy (CRT) and FT-AN. He also has a good knowledge of CBT-AR (for ARFID) and is a trained EMDR practitioner. He has worked with people with eating disorders across the age range. He completed his doctoral thesis on the wellbeing of parent/carers of those with eating disorders and has since published peer reviewed journals on the subject. He has taken part in podcasts, radio discussions and written a chapter in a book on the topic of eating disorders. He also has recently started to work with young people with autism/adhd and has seen how these have connections with eating disorders. He has some knowledge of the PEACE pathway to support those with neurodiversity and an eating disorder and is trying to encourage Eating Disorder services to use adapted treatments that can be neurodiverse friendly.
