Defence and Security Psychology Section Conference 2025
- Defence and security

The Defence and Security Psychology Section is pleased to invite you to attend its 2025 conference.
The conference offers a unique learning experience, featuring insights from renowned keynote speakers, practical applications of psychology in Defence and Security, and the perspectives of practitioners, researchers and academics working in the area.
This year, the conference will be held at:
BPS London Office
The British Psychological Society
30 Tabernacle Street
London EC2A 4UE
The event will be one day of presentations and posters from psychologists working in Defence and Security contexts, keynote speakers and networking time to meet your peers.
We welcome you to share research and experiences on resilience in Defence and Security through two sub-topics:
The importance of international and organisational collaboration
The Integrated Review Refresh (2023) highlighted the importance of collaboration through national and global collaboration with allies and partners in response to a more volatile and contested world. We are keen to hear about your work and your experiences across a wide range of topics that may include:
- working internationally;
- building and maintaining partnerships to counter state threats; and
- building capability at home and overseas or defence and deterrence through collective security.
This topic area also includes the importance of building partnerships across the defence and security enterprise to deliver effective outcomes.
Delivering psychological outputs within multi-disciplinary teams
Technology developments and changing business practices mean that psychologists rarely work in silos. Our work is often required to be part of a multi-disciplinary team that requires inputs from people with different skills and backgrounds. We would like to hear about projects and studies that have required people to partner with non-psychology professionals.
As an example, this topic area might include projects to develop/use AI that have required input from Data Scientists and software developers or it might include delivery of clinical services to treat personnel where psychology has been one component of that service, requiring you to work with people from other clinical professions.
This theme also incorporates the challenges associated with building trust and creating the conditions for effective teamwork within multi-disciplinary teams.
If you are interested in presenting at the conference within one of the themes, you can submit an abstract for review.
Please read the information on the Submissions tab before submitting an abstract.
