Appreciating the value of Qualitative Research: Trustworthiness and Credibility
- Qualitative Methods
- Research

Criticism and challenge is often made towards qualitative research that any findings from such an approach lack validity, reliability and generalisability. This webinar will present qualitative research as a completely different approach to research and explain how such terms are unhelpful for us as psychologists.
The webinar will;
- Consider the key principles in psychological research, such as 'validity' and 'reliability' and consider how these relate to qualitative research – suggesting that 'credibility' and 'trustworthiness' are more helpful.
- Consider the history of qualitative research in psychology and discuss how it may have been marginalised.
- Present an argument of how qualitative research allows for marginalised voices to be heard.
Whilst not compulsory, you may find it useful to watch the Qualitative research: Technique and reflexivity on-demand webinar ahead of this webinar.
