Your opportunities to get involved

There’s a new vacancy on our Member Board, which is just one of a number of current opportunities to get more involved in your society and the work that we do.

Our Member Board advises and supports the organisation on all issues related to membership and member networks, and helps to develop our vision to retain existing members and bring new ones into our community.

We're looking to appoint a new member who can help us to think about how to enhance our offer to members in a discipline that is rapidly evolving and diversifying.

If this sounds like it could be you, we'd love to hear from you. More information on the Member Board and the role is available on our website.

As an organisation, we're only able to achieve what we do thanks to the contributions of our members on boards and committees, and in contributing their expertise to our campaigns and consultation responses.

Getting more actively involved in the BPS is a great way to gain new experiences, meet like-minded colleagues, and contribute to the largest psychological community in the UK.

Other current opportunities are open on our Practice Board, which acts as a source of expertise on psychological practice, and is looking for a neuropsychologist and occupational psychologist to join.

Our Mental Capacity Advisory Group and Expert Witness Advisory Group are looking for new members, both of which advise the Practice Board on these specific areas of psychological practice.

There are also several opportunities to get involved with a member network, whether as a chair or committee member, which would allow you to get contribute to the running of our group representing your area of psychology.

If you're not able to give up the time to take on a specific position, we are regularly responding to consultations and briefings, and need members' expertise to ensure every base is covered.

Current topics include working with interpreters in mental health and supporting people with intellectual disabilities who develop dementia, with new ones regularly being added to our consultations page.

It's thanks to the contributions of so many of our members that we're able to continue representing all areas of psychology and delivering for our members – thank you to everyone who helps out, whether that's by serving on a committee or lending us your expertise for a specific project.

If you've not yet taken your first steps to a more active role within the BPS, I'd encourage you to keep an eye on our dedicated page for volunteering opportunities. We'd love to have you on board.
