Assessment Deputy - Qualification in Forensic Psychology

The Qualification Leadership Team (QLT) is seeking to appoint a Chartered Member of the Society who is a Forensic Psychologist to take on the role of Assessment Deputy (AD).

Role: Assessment Deputy, Qualification in Forensic Psychology

Location: Remote with attendance at meetings in Leicester, London or online

Reports to: Qualification Head of Assessment

Hours: 6 sessions per month (currently under review) - 1 session is equivalent to 3.5 hours

Remuneration: £750 per month

Duration: Fixed term or open ended upon request, with an initial 12 month probation period.

The Qualification Leadership Team (QLT) is seeking to appoint a Chartered Member of the society who is a Forensic Psychologist to take on the role of Assessment Deputy (AD).

The role of the Qualification Leadership Team is to oversee and manage all matters relating to policy, procedure and assessment of their Qualification.

The Qualification Leadership Team's work is overseen by the society's Qualifications Committee (QC) which consists of the Leads of all BPS Qualifications.

The Forensic Psychology Qualification Leadership Team is responsible for the delivery and assessment of the society's Qualification in Forensic Psychology (Stage 2), which confers eligibility to apply to the BPS for Chartered Membership and Full Membership of the Division of Forensic Psychology, and confers eligibility apply to register with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist.

Role Overview

The Assessment Deputy will report to and support the Head of Assessment in the oversight and management of the assessment process including quality assurance, assessor support and training.

They act on behalf of the Head of Assessment in all matters concerning the implementation of the Qualification's Assessment Framework.

The Assessment Deputy will contribute to the management of the Qualification and support the Head of Assessment in ensuring that the Qualification meets the requirements of HCPC.  

Essential Criteria

The Assessment Deputy must be a Forensic Psychologist (with Chartered Membership of the society) and a member of the appropriate BPS Division, with at least two years' post Qualification experience.

Role Description

  • Carry out such activities as required, under the direction of the Head of Assessment, in the assessment and quality assurance of the Qualification. 
  • Review applications for accreditation of existing competence (AEC) in line with the Qualification Handbook and make recommendations to the Head of Assessment for approval.
  • Work with the Head of Assessment, other Assessment Deputies and Assessors on the production and delivery of induction, training and workshops. 
  • Work with and support assessor groups on the 2021 version of the Qualification in Forensic Psychology.
  • Moderate results reporting to the Head of Assessment for final approval.
  • Advise on continuous improvements to accreditation of prior learning (AEC) and the assessment process.
  • Any other duties as required by the Head of Assessment.
Competencies
  • Knowledge and understanding of the processes of examinations and ideally the Qualification in Forensic Psychology. 
  • Experience of examining at a postgraduate level in psychology; 
  • Experience of work involving establishing and maintaining standards on behalf of an organisation;  
  • Experience of facilitating workshops, training /briefing sessions

  • Ability to withstand pressure and meet deadlines.
